Terracotta Warriors
The Terracotta Warriors were built with ceramic sculptures. It's a three-dimensional shape because the structure is created through clay, it includes added modeled, subtracted carved form, and it's built constructively.
This image as a whole, the layout, and the design of the army construct as a pattern and repetition. It reused the same elements in each of the warriors. They are all very similar and as for the pattern, they all have repeatedly the same pattern line and design on each of the warriors.
The texture of this art piece is a presence of optical. It is also a physical texture, the smooth feeling of the clay, and the dimension of its roughness through the patterns and the structure of its armor.
I have a real-life picture of me standing in front of all the Terracotta Warriors when I was in China. The whole visual of being there and seeing the Terracotta Warriors were amazing. The art had meaning to it and hearing the historical facts about it. It made the art more impactful and a sense of connection to where I was born.
This is really awesome. It's so cool that you were actually able to visit China and experience both this particular art piece as well as the amazing culture. Of course, I haven't seen the actual piece but just thinking of terracotta stirs up images of rich clay textures for me. I love that you spoke about that and considered it as a texture in your analysis. Additionally, I would like to hear more about the history of the warriors and why there are so many! The sheer amount of them reminds me of a pattern of repetition!
